Power Integrations announced the addition of 900V devices to its InnoSwitch-EP series of offline CV / CC flyback switch ICs. The new equipment's target power supplies are high-voltage DC and three-phase power supplies used in industrial, motor-driven, metering, and renewable energy applications, as well as standard utility power applications that require continuous operation during line surges and surges. The 900V InnoSwitch-EP IC has very high efficiency-the efficiency of the dual output 18W design is usually 85%-eliminating the heat sink and enabling a highly compact power supply implementation. David Chen, Director of Application Engineering, Power Integrations, said: "Designers of high-voltage systems can typically use megawatts of power, so they may need to consume a few milliwatts of power to power low-voltage microprocessor systems, or inverter gate drivers require Dozens of watts. The new 900V InnoSwitch-EP device greatly simplifies the design of rugged, highly reliable power supplies that can operate at common industrial voltages. " The InnoSwitch-EP IC series uses the company's innovative, high-safety FluxLink magnetic induction coupling technology, and includes synchronous rectification with precise secondary-side regulation, resulting in an efficient and reliable power circuit that does not require an optocoupler. The new 900V InnoSwitch-EP IC features an upgraded integrated 900V power MOSFET that provides significant operating margin for 450 VAC industrial systems, increasing reliability and service life. Optional protection layer-line UV / OV works continuously with input voltage up to 450 VAC, prevents IC switching and protects the circuit below 650 VAC. This flexibility is a huge benefit for power supply designers who fit all conditions around the world. The 900V InnoSwitch-EP IC improves power supply reliability by reducing the number of BOMs to a minimum and eliminating photocouplers that degrade over time. The equipment exceeds all international energy efficiency standards, such as ENERGY STAR, the California Energy Commission and the European Union Code of Conduct (CoC), the ErP Directive, and the US Department of Energy standards. The device complies with UL1577 and TUV (EN60950) safety certifications, and complies with EN61000-4-8 (100 A / m) and EN61000-4-9 (1000 A / m).
