Texas Instruments' TPS23861 four-port Power-over-Ethernet PSE controller is an easy-to-use, flexible IEEE802.3at PSE solution. When shipped from the factory, it can automatically manage four 802.3at ports without any external control. The device will automatically detect the powered device with a valid signature, determine the power requirements according to the classification and power on. Type 2 PD supports two event classification. It supports DC disconnect, and an external FET architecture enables designers to balance size, efficiency, and solution cost requirements. The unique pin output clearly implements a 2-layer PCB design through logical grouping and the distinction between I2C and power pins. This provides first-class thermal performance, Kelvin accuracy, and lower manufacturing costs. In addition to automatic operation, the device also supports semi-automatic mode through I2C control for precise monitoring and intelligent power management. Whether in semi-automatic or automatic mode, ensure compliance with the 400ms TPON specification.
