TI's bq40z50-R2 device uses patented impedance tracking technology. It is a fully integrated ,single chip, packaging solutions for the 1 series, 2 series, 3 series and 4 lithium ion battery series battery, providing rich gas metering, protection and authentication function and a lithium polymer battery group.

   The use of the integrated high performance analog peripherals, the device can measure and maintain the available capacity, Li-Ion or Li-Polymer in the battery voltage, current, accurate records of temperature and other key parameters, and reporting this information to the system host controller through SMBus v1.1 compatible interface.

   The device supports the TURBO mode 2 by providing the maximum power and maximum current available to the host system. The device also supports the battery trip point and sends the BTP interrupt signal to the host system in a preset charge threshold state.

   The device provides software based first and second level security protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, short circuit current, overload and overtemperature conditions, and other package and battery faults.

  SHA-1 authentication with a secure memory for authenticating keys can identify a true battery pack.

  The compact 32 pin QFN package maximizes the solution cost and size of smart batteries, while providing maximum functionality and security for battery measurement applications.
