24 V XClampR transient voltage suppressor from Vishay delivers industry-leading performance

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announces three new series of 24 V surface mount XClampR Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS) --- XMC7K24CA, XLD5A24CA and XLD8A24CA, in SMC (DO-214AB) packaged devices at 10/1000 μs , and DO-218AB packaged devices under the condition of 10/10 000 μs, providing peak pulse power equivalent to conventional TVS 7KW. This bidirectional device operates from -55 °C to +175 °C with high power density for automotive, communications and industrial applications.

     XMC7K24CA series SMC package devices have a maximum clamping voltage as low as 24 V and peak pulse current (Ippm) as high as 180 A at 10/1000 μs, which is equivalent to the 7 kW rated power of conventional TVS. The XLD5A24CA and XLD8A24CA series DO 218AB packaged devices have a maximum clamping voltage of 26 V and Ippm of 120 A and 180 A at 10/10 000 μs, equivalent to conventional TVS 4.6 kW and 7 kW power ratings, respectively.

     The recently released Vishay General Semiconductor TVS is AEC-Q101 qualified and offers a very stable breakdown voltage range of 26.7 V to 29.5 V over the entire operating temperature range for a variety of high reliability applications. This family of TVS devices protects sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transient damage caused by inductive load switching and lighting. Typical applications include automotive load dump protection, industrial robotic arms and signal line protection in communication systems.

    For mild hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) 48 V belt starter generator (BSG) and integrated starter generator (ISG) applications with reverse operating voltages greater than 24 V, the XLD5A24CA, XLD8A24CA and XMC7K24CA series devices can be connected in series with standard TVSs. The device is RoHS compliant, halogen free, and meets J-STD-020 Moisture Sensitivity (MSL) Level 1 with a LF peak of 245 °C.
