The TC2054, TC2055 and TC2186 are high precision (usually ±0.4%)CMOS upgrades to older (bipolar) low differential regulators. Designed for battery powered systems, the total supply current of the device is typically 55µA at full load (20 to 60 times lower than the bipolar voltage regulator).

Typical application

Key features of the device include low noise operation, low voltage drop - typically 45 mV (TC2054); 90 mV (TC2055); As well as full load 140mv (TC2186) - quick response to step changes in load. An error is asserted when the device is abnormal (due to low input or high output current). The supply current is reduced to 0.5μA (Max) and both VOUT and ERROR are disabled when the off input is low.

Package Type

The device also includes overcurrent and overtemperature protection. The TC2054, TC2055 and TC2186 have low-esR ceramic output capacitors of 1 μF with maximum output currents of 50 mA, 100 mA and 150 mA, respectively. The LDO family also has a fast response time (typically 60µs) from shutdown release.
