Yokogawa has introduced two new Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSAs) to address market demand for instruments capable of measuring a broad range of wavelengths to meet new optical product development and manufacturing needs. The AQ6375E and AQ6376E are currently the only grating-type optical waveguide devices with world-class optical performance, covering SWIR above 2μm and MWIR above 3μm.

Based on the lineage of Yokogawa AQ6375B and AQ6376 OSAs, the new OSAs are available in four versions. The AQ6375E standard has a wavelength range of 1200-2400nm; the AQ6375E extended wavelength version has a wavelength range of 1000-2500nm; the AQ6375E limited edition has a wavelength range of 1200-2400nm (with reduced wavelength resolution); the AQ6376E standard has a wavelength range of 1500-3400nm .

The selectable wavelengths offer developers greater flexibility in applying OSAs in a variety of applications. These include environmental measurements and gas sensing, where the AQ637xE can be used to measure the characteristics of light sources used in gas absorption spectroscopy and laser absorption spectroscopy. Other major uses for the new OSAs are in healthcare and biotechnology, as well as industrial laser applications. Typical applications will include laser development and measurement; characterization of broadband light sources, such as supercontinuum sources; optical passive components; and optical fibers.

"The introduction of the new AQ637xE provides developers and manufacturers with greater flexibility in measuring wavelength ranges, all in a highly accurate and very practical," said Terry Marrinan, vice president and chief marketing officer of Yokogawa Test & Measurement OSAs family.” “The AQ637xE will expand the number of optical products that can be analyzed, including development applications and production, bringing feature-rich, high-precision measurements to all stages of the process.”
