Bourns introduces a new family of polymeric thermal cutoff (P-TCO) devices designed to protect USB-C cables from damaging and potentially dangerous thermal runaway events. The new series provides optimized thermal protection solutions for USB CC, CB and CA connector configurations, supporting USB 3.2, 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0 protocols and other types of data / charging cables. The USB Type-C connector can provide up to 100W of power, and its 24-pin size is smaller than earlier USB connector designs. The company's new model series combines compact ultra-low resistance thermal protection to help and prevent potentially dangerous overheating events. The newly designed P-TCO series is designed to meet smaller footprint specifications, including two series: the 1210 P-TCO-U series and the ultra-compact 1206 P-TCO-N series. The company offers a maximum operating voltage rating of 12V and a maximum operating current rating of 50A for the series. Each series is available in three different models designed to protect a mixture of temperature-current combinations. The ultra-low-resistance materials used in this series enable both series to obtain initial resistance values ??as low as 2mOhms and post-trip resistance values ??as low as 14mOhms, enabling the device to achieve current carrying capacity up to 4.5A.
