Bourns announced the expansion of its product portfolio with the addition of 12 new CSM2F series power shunt resistors. The new series uses riveted through-hole metal sensing pins to meet the growing demand for accurate voltage test point positioning in high-current applications. The latest Bourns CSM2F series shunt resistors are designed using Bourns electron beam welding resistance technology to support high power designs of up to 50 watts and continuous currents of up to 1414 amps. In addition, the new series is made of metal alloy resistance assemblies that provide thermoelectric EMFs as low as 0.25 µV/K.

The Bourns CSM2F series offers two or three tinned copper pin options, with the three-pin scheme providing a third additional induction pin on top of the two pins, connected to the ground side (GND) of the circuit. The three-pin design helps reduce sensing errors and improve measurement accuracy by directing the current on the ground (GND) to a path separate from the target detection circuit. The Bourns CSM2F shunt resistor family also features a wide resistance range of 25 µΩ to 200 µΩ and a low ±50 PPM/°C TCR for temperatures ranging from 20 °C to 60 °C. The new range offers three different finishes as well as four package sizes: 6918, 8518, 7036 and 8536 (metric), providing designers with additional flexibility to meet a variety of customer environments and welding needs. And the whole series are RoHS standards and halogen-free products
