In order to integrate driver and passenger monitoring into one camera, emotion3d and ONSEMI announced a joint reference design for driver and passenger monitoring system (DOMS). This unique design can realize multiple safety functions and higher-level user experience. This enables automotive OEMs to deploy low-cost, high-performance next-generation in vehicle imaging solutions to make driving safer and happier.

Based on the cabinet eye AI software stack of emotion3d company and the ar0820at 8.3mp image sensor of ONSEMI company, this new DOMS solution not only replaces the single task driven monitoring single / infrared camera, but also realizes a variety of safe and convenient use conditions by using a single color / infrared camera.

Florian seitner, CEO of emotion3d, said: "with ONSEMI's expertise in imagers and rich experience in the automotive industry, we can build this innovative single camera solution to prepare for European NCAP and general safety regulations (GSR) in 2019." "Our powerful and versatile in cabin analysis software stack covers a variety of DOM applications, which will take the first level and OEM to a new level of user experience and provide higher safety for all passengers. Our ultimate goal is to help achieve the vision of zero - no death or serious injury in traffic accidents."

The AR0820AT image sensor's high dynamic range makes it easy to manage challenging lighting conditions, while its higher sensitivity improves performance in extreme low-light conditions, making it ideal for in-car applications. The high resolution camera also allows a wider field of view for a comprehensive analysis of the cabin space, enabling Tier 1S and OEM to implement multiple use cases.

Chris Adams, vice president of automotive sensing Department of ONSEMI, said: "we are very happy to cooperate with technology disruptors such as emotion3d to realize more innovative in car solutions through our best ar0820at." "The next generation of delayed muscle movement (DOMS) can not only help drivers stay vigilant while driving, but also realize new use cases around the safety and convenience of passengers. The solution of delayed muscle pain enables all passengers to enjoy safer traffic."
