Cypress has introduced 64Mb and 128Mb densities for its NOR flash family with Quad Serial Peripheral Interface (Quad SPI). The new FL-L NOR flash device provides the highest reliability and security for high-performance embedded systems that store critical data and operate at extended temperatures. These devices also feature low power consumption and AEC-Q100 automotive qualification, high read bandwidth and fast programming time over an extended temperature range. Using a small, uniform 4KB physical memory sector allows the device to optimally store program code and parameter data. These devices are well-suited for high-performance applications such as ADAS, automotive dashboards and infotainment systems, industrial control and smart factory equipment, networking equipment, IoT applications, video game consoles and set-top boxes. "Our FL-L Quad SPI NOR flash family provides the highest reliability and enhanced security, as well as the bandwidth and small size required for high-performance applications," said Rainer Hoehler, vice president of the Cypress Flash Memory Business Unit. "Expanding this series is in line with our strategy to provide high-performance memory, combined with Cypress's MCU, analog and connectivity solutions, to provide complete embedded system-level solutions for our rapidly growing target markets. High-performance system designs require high read bandwidth to execute programs, small size, low pin count packages, and fast programming and erase times. Cypress's 128Mb and 256Mb FL-L four-channel SPI NOR flash devices both have 133MHz SDR and 66MHz DDR capabilities with a bandwidth of 67Mbps, while 64Mb devices use 54MHz DDR mode to provide 54Mbps read bandwidth, enabling high speeds Fast program execution performance system. The memory provides low standby current and deep power-down modes to extend battery life in battery-powered applications. The series is AEC-Q100 automotive qualified and supports an extended temperature range from -40C to + 125C. 128Mb and 256Mb devices can increase the customer's manufacturing throughput with a fast programming time of 0.30ms per 256 bytes, and they provide 50ms of erase time, allowing new data to be written quickly. The device is available in industry standard packages, including USON (4mm x 4mm) packages, which saves board space and simplifies layout.
