Diodes Incorporated released two flexible high-speed automotive-compatible voltage converters for environments up to 125C. PI4ULS5V108Q and PI4ULS5V202Q were created for use in ADAS, infotainment and telematics equipment.
Both devices are compatible with push-pull or open-drain connections, providing the convenience of a single part number for multiple applications. Similarly, the bidirectional flexibility with bidirectional auto-sensing can simplify level translation between bus interfaces (such as PMBus, SMBus, or I2C devices) by eliminating any need for directional control signals.
The eight-channel PI4ULS5V108Q performs up-conversion at frequencies up to 100 MHz and down-conversion at frequencies above 100 MHz, providing responsive performance for use in high-data-rate interfaces. Designers can guarantee fast swapping across SPI or other interfaces without being limited by level shifting. This allows data transfer between the SoC and peripheral components to be performed with optimal efficiency.
The PI4ULS5V202Q is a two-channel converter with an internal 10kOhm pull-up resistor. It can be directly connected to an interface using an open-drain topology, such as an I2C port. The maximum maximum voltage conversion range of 1.2V to 5.5V makes it flexible to work with a variety of I2C chips and circuit designs. The device has fast rise and fall times thanks to a high-speed single-shot detector at the input of the IC and is capable of supporting data rates up to 20Mbps.
Both devices are AEC-Q100 Level 1 compliant, support PPAP, and are already in production at IATF 16949 certified sites.
