Diodes Incorporated has introduced the ZXGD3113 synchronous rectifier controller. When used in conjunction with a MOSFET, this pairing can replace a lossy Schottky rectifier in a power supply based on a flyback or resonant converter topology. The device controls an external MOSFET, such as a 100V 16mΩ N-channel DMT10H015LPS configured as an ideal diode. Replacing Schottky rectifiers with ZXGD3113 + MOSFETs can greatly improve the efficiency of AC / DC power supplies for consumer, industrial and telecommunications markets. Compared with a lossy Schottky rectifier, it has higher efficiency, so it saves space without a heat sink. In addition, the smaller SOT26 reduces the size of the industry standard SO8 solution, and by working to 250kHz, PSU designers can use smaller transformers, saving more space and BOM costs.
