EPCOS/TDK's CeraCharge is the first solid-state rechargeable battery with compact SMD technology. Depending on the requirements, the battery can perform charge-discharge cycles ranging from dozens to 1,000. In its compact EIA 1812 package (4.5mm x 3.2mm x 1.1mm) it provides a 100µA capacitor with a rated voltage of 1.4V. In addition to the 100µ rated current, the battery is also capable of supplying several horses of current in the order of short periods of time. Due to the SMD technology, the placement of the cells is easy and can be handled using reflow soldering technology, which in turn reduces the production cost of the final product.

In contrast to most common technologies, CeraCharge is a solid-state rechargeable battery with no liquid electrolyte. The batteries are based on multilayer technology, similar to MLCCs. This means that relatively high energy density and minimal volume combine the safety of ceramic multilayer components with the advantages of high-volume manufacturing.

The product features a compact SMD design in the size of an EIA 1812 box, using reflow soldering technology, easy placement and processing, solid ceramic electrolyte eliminates the risk of fire, explosion, liquid electrolyte leakage, used in IoT devices, real-time clock, Bluetooth signal and energy harvesting systems
