High voltage Hall effect latch

Technology Cover
Post Date: 2023-02-25, Diodes Incorporated

The AH266 is an integrated Hall sensor with an output driver designed for electronic commutation in brushless DC motor applications. Rated operating temperature range is -20°C to +85°C, and voltage range is 4V to 28V. The device is available in low-cost mold form or rugged 4-pin SIP packaging.

Typical Applications Circuit

Internal band gap regulators are used to provide temperature compensated supply voltages to internal circuits and allow a wide operating supply range. If a magnetic flux density (B) is greater than the operating point (Bop), DO will open (low) and DOB will close (high). Lock the output state until the release point (Brp) is reached. If B< Brp, DO will be off, DOB will be on.

Functional Block Diagram

The device includes an on-chip Hall voltage generator for magnetic sensing, a comparator for amplifying Hall voltage, a Schmidt flip-flop that provides switching hysteresis to suppress noise, and a complementary Darlington open-collector driver for reducing large current loads.
