Honeywell - Hall-effect rotary position sensors provide angle monitoring in harsh applications (RTY Series)

Technology Cover
Honeywell's RTY series Hall-effect rotary position sensors are competitive and provide angle monitoring in harsh transportation and industrial applications. The sensor uses a magnetically biased Hall-effect integrated circuit (IC) to sense the rotary motion of the actuator shaft within a set operating range. Rotation of the actuator shaft changes the position of the magnet relative to the IC. The resulting change in magnetic flux density is converted into a linear output. The IC is sealed in a rugged IP67-certified package along with regulation and protection circuits and permanent magnets to maintain durability in a variety of harsh environments. Eight working ranges (50 °, 60 °, 70 °, 90 °, 120 °, 180 °, 270 ° and 360 °) can withstand overtravel and allow use in most common applications. The low and high voltage versions have an input voltage range of 4.5VDC to 30VDC. Although most applications do not require leverage, a leveraged version is still available. Leverage allows users to reduce the number of mechanical linkages required for their application, which can reduce the cost of the overall solution. The company said that parentheses are not needed.
