Infineon Technologies has announced the launch of the new XENSIV TLE4971 series of magnetic current sensors to further enrich its automotive current sensor portfolio. The 3.3V XENSIV TLI4971 device comes in A TISON package with an integrated rail structure and supports four preset current ranges of 25 A, 50 A, 75 A and 120 A. With its compact design and advanced environmentally aware features, the TLE4971 series is suitable for a wide range of automotive use cases, including on-board chargers (OBC), high-voltage auxiliary drives, and charging applications. In addition, the TLE4971 series of magnetic current sensors can be used in a variety of industrial applications, such as electric vehicle DC chargers, industrial drivers, servo drivers, and photovoltaic inverters.

Based on its unique temperature and stress compensation features, the Infineon XENSIV™ TLE4971 magnetic current sensor enables accurate magnetoelectric flumetry without negative effects due to core hysteresis or saturation effects. Because of the differential sensing structure, no magnetic core or shielding is needed to protect it from stray field interference. In addition, the sensor family is ideal for applications using wide band gap solutions such as gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC). The integrated EEPROM allows customers to customize the sensor's overcurrent detection (OCD) threshold and anti-jamming pulse filters for different applications.

The sensor family is packaged in a small PG-TISON-8-5 package, offering a highly compact design for a variety of different applications. With a minimum insertion resistance of 220 µΩ and an inductance value of less than 1 nH, system losses are reduced and system efficiency and measurement accuracy are improved. In addition, the package has high dynamic range, high inrush current and leading thermal performance. The XENSIV™ TLE4971 family of devices is compliant with AEC-Q100 Level 1 and is suitable for automotive applications operating at temperatures up to 125°C with increased output accuracy. To support industrial applications, all models of the sensor family are available in both standard and UL certified versions.

TLE4971 adopts halogen-free and lead-free packaging (QFN like) conforming to RoHS standard
