This design allows SensorTile to obtain a stable 3.3V from AA batteries until the voltage is as low as 0.65V. The R-78S3.3-0.1-EVM-1 / STM-1 board can be used with the STEVAL STLCS01V1 SensorTile module and the R-78S3.3-0.1-EVM-1 evaluation module. According to Recom, when powered directly from a coin cell battery, the input voltage drops after hours of use. To solve this problem, the R-78S raised the voltage of a single 1.5V AA battery to a stable 3.3V, as demonstrated on the R-78S evaluation board. Measuring voltage and current test points makes it easy to calculate the typical battery life of the SensorTile in active and standby modes. You can also choose to use external input voltages from other low-voltage sources, such as those commonly used in remote applications.
