C&K, a leading manufacturer of high-quality electromechanical switches, has added a new addition to its key switch product line—the K12S 12N Illuminated Switch. The K12S 12N key switch is an innovative product based on the acclaimed and durable K12S switch series, designed to meet the growing demand for high performance and high brightness illuminated switches in the industrial and automotive industries.

After many tests and adjustments, the K12S 12N key switch can be applied to a variety of application scenarios. For example, on the handlebar of a motorcycle, the rider can touch the switch with gloves without obstacles; because the K12S switch has 100N anti-overload capability and anti-abuse contact function, so even if the motorcycle accidentally falls to the ground, there is no need to worry about the switch therefore damaged. The K12S maintains high performance while allowing you to ride with confidence on the road.

C&K uses an advanced material that is more transparent and can withstand high reflow temperatures to enhance the brightness of the K12S series of key switches. K12S series switches are available in 7 standard LED colors to meet customer specific application requirements.

The IP67-sealed models in the K12S key switch series are designed for outdoor applications, such as automotive door locks, trunk opening buttons, motorcycle handlebars, and other situations where harsh environments may be encountered. For less demanding environments, IP40 model switches are available.

C&K's K12S series switches are available in double-pole single-throw, double-contact versions with a double-step operating force of 6/12N. Cedric Garropin, Product Manager at C&K, explained: "As the demand for high-brightness illuminated switches continues to grow, the K12S can meet the performance and practicality requirements of your design. By configuring different combinations of spring mechanisms and cam designs, we are able to The travel distance, operating force and contact position of the switch can be customized to meet different customer requirements with the same form factor.”

All K12S series of key switches use gold-plated self-cleaning contacts with low contact resistance (<100mΩ), 100N overload resistance and 1 million operating life. The small size of these switches in the PCB mount state allows mechatronic design engineers to easily integrate them into complex sub-assemblies that require precise control, such as joysticks, remote controls, vehicle cabs, and forklift/hoist controls. Additionally, the K12S series of key switches with a double pole single throw configuration can meet the safety requirements of demanding applications in medical, military, avionics or industrial equipment.
