As the increasing use of broadband power semiconductors in power electronics drives new inverters, KEMET expands its automotive-grade and commercial high-voltage C0G ceramic capacitors and drives them with greater voltage, current, power density and frequency DC-DC converter design. These new capacitor ranges provide options for next-generation power electronics for alternative energy applications, while the automotive-grade series meets the heavy automotive electronics committee's AEC-Q200 qualification requirements. The company's patented high-reliability BME dielectric system is 100% lead-free, RoHS and REACH compliant. These devices provide industry-leading CV values, high capacitance, low leakage current, and high thermal stability. Low inductance and ESR vs. frequency allow very high ripple current capability. Available enclosure sizes are 2824, 3040, 3640, and 4540, which can increase capacitance to 150 nF at voltages up to 2,000V. Termination options for SnPb plating are available on request (minimum 5% Pb). Ceramic capacitor applications include switching power supplies, lighting ballasts, voltage doubling circuits, high voltage coupling and DC blocking, DC-DC converters, and coupling capacitors in Cuk converters.
