    Renesas Electronics RAA489204 Industrial-grade lithium ion Battery manager IC, currently available from Mouser, provides all the features of this critical component in battery management systems, including accurate battery voltage and temperature monitoring, battery balance and extensive system diagnostics. Monitor up to 14 series batteries and are optimized to meet stringent industrial performance, reliability and safety requirements.

   In a typical configuration, the main RAA489204 communicates with the main microcontroller through the SPI port and connects up to 29 RAA489204 devices via a robust, proprietary two-wire Daisy chain. This communication system is very flexible and can be achieved by capacitor isolation, transformer isolation, or a combination of the two.

    Cell balancing modes include manual balancing, scheduled balancing, and automatic balancing. Auto balance mode terminates balance after the host specified charge amount has been removed from each cell. The device is packaged in a 64-pin TQFP and operates between -40 ° C and +85 ° C.
