Analog Devices has added its ADI Synchronous industrial Ethernet portfolio solution to bring remote Ethernet connectivity from the edge to the cloud, facilitating real-time configuration, reducing energy consumption, and improving asset utilization. New support for the 10Base-T1L Physical Layer Ethernet standard allows new data flows from remote and edge nodes in hazardous areas across processes and building facilities. This previously unavailable data can now be seamlessly accessed over the web and used to assess factors such as raw material usage, asset health and process parameters that contribute to cleaner production.

Mark Barry, General Manager of Automation and Energy at ADI said ."Many processing plants and buildings are struggling with the constant manual local intervention required by service personnel and the limited ability to optimize assets at the enterprise level,"  "By providing long range industrial Ethernet solutions that conform to the 10BASE-T1L Ethernet standard, we enable our customers to achieve reliable communication over longer distances, covering the last mile of a connection. This truly realises the benefits of digitization with seamless access to edge data and improved control over remote assets."

The latest products enable customers to reduce their building's energy consumption and overall carbon footprint by improving the control of building parameters. The ADI Chronous ADIN1100 and ADIN1110 Industrial Ethernet solutions are capable of transmitting data over 1.7 km or more than 1 mile (a significant increase over earlier Ethernet standards) over a pair of twisted-pair cables, which helps reduce weight, space and cost. These cables are lighter and more malleable than traditional Ethernet cables, enabling reuse of existing cable infrastructure and reducing commissioning costs and complexity.

PHY (ADIN1100) provides a standard Ethernet interface and supports more complex designs such as field switch development or building controllers. The new industrial Ethernet solution offers two flexible options :MAC PHY and PHY. MAC PHY (ADIN1110) delivers the industry's lowest-power system, simplifying the transformation of Ethernet field sensors or actuators while preserving current investments in software and processor technology.
