The LAN8830 Gigabit Ethernet transceiver with RGMII is an integrated three speed (10Base-T/100Base TX/1000Base-T) Ethernet physical layer transceiver designed to transmit and receive data on standard CAT-5, CAT-5e and CAT6 unshielded twisted pair (UTP). The LAN8830 has an RGMII (simplified gigabit media independent interface) for connecting Ethernet switches, microcontrollers or microprocessors. In addition, an embedded Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) provides an RGMIII interface for 1000Mbps or 10/100Mbps data transmission.

Microchip LAN8830 transceiver reduces the cost of the board and simplifies the layout of the board by using the terminal resistors of four differential pairs on the chip. In addition, the LAN8830 integrates an LDO controller to drive a low-cost MOSFET to provide a 1.2V core. The 48 pin QFN package conforming to rohs standard is adopted.

The equipment provides diagnostic functions to realize system startup and debugging in production testing and product deployment. The parameter NAND tree supports fault detection between the LAN8830 I/o and the board. LinkMD based ® Tdr cable diagnosis can identify the faulty copper cable. Remote and local loopback functions verify analog and digital data paths.
