Molex's Mini50 single-row and double-row sockets save 50% of space over traditional USCAR 0.64mm connectors. They can be used in a sealed or unsealed form with smaller terminals to accommodate more low-current circuits in the interior transportation vehicle environment. Automakers have been demanding smaller interconnects as the demand for automotive infotainment and security options has skyrocketed and there is an increasing need to squeeze more electronics into the same space. The Mini50 series wire-to-board sockets meet these requirements, allowing manufacturers to package circuits in a smaller space while reducing costs by deploying smaller pin, terminal, and wire sizes. They are ideal for a variety of automotive applications, including cameras / sensors, switches, dashboard / navigation, HVAC, canopy, lighting, rearview mirrors, power steering, radio and DVD / entertainment. The company said that the Mini50 unsealed connector system was approved as the industry's only USCAR 050 interface.
