Post Date: 2023-05-31, Trinamic Motion Control GmbH

Modern battery-powered motor drive applications, such as power tools, are characterized by small size, light weight and low power, so solutions in this area of application must consider how to provide superior performance while occupying minimal system resources. Building a quiet, small, precise, and efficient motor driver module is key. ADI Trinamic's motor drive solution integrates chips and Settings from thermostatic radiator valves to power tools to healthcare applications, bringing reliable and precise motion control to battery-powered devices for the convenience of consumers and professionals alike.

Power tool

Lightweight, multifunctional power tools powered by brushless DC motors have changed the way people work and can be found everywhere from yard gardening to large-scale construction projects. Such tools use lithium-ion batteries to improve portability while still remaining powerful. However, lightweight and efficient batteries are only one of the challenges. Matching the power and utility of battery-powered tools is just as important. Thanks to ADI Trinamic's proprietary solution, engineers need not worry about motion control needs and can focus on designing efficient and powerful devices using industrial-grade technology.

Personal robot

From household chores to educational entertainment, personal robots are increasingly being used around the world, creating a booming and competitive market. Thanks to shrinking component sizes and costs, as well as the growing popularity of artificial intelligence, sophisticated personal robots can now handle almost any household chore. At the same time, the field is moving toward edge intelligence, enabling personal assistants to make sound decisions in real time, a trend that requires support from industrial-grade motion control technology. The ADI Trinamic motor driver IC fully integrates communication, synchronization and intelligence features to help personalize advanced robots.

POS equipment

For bricks-and-mortar stores of all kinds, from food trucks to department stores, a reliable system for handling all transactions is crucial. All physical stores are required to be equipped with flexible point-of-sale (POS) systems that can integrate with cloud services while meeting users' hardware requirements and require stepper motors to print vouchers. Robust, small, and efficient, ADI Trinamic low-voltage solutions form the basis of long-lasting battery-powered POS devices, offering high cost performance and low complexity to deliver higher power that makes motion control a breeze.

Camera

Whether ordinary people or professionals, people's demand for cameras is increasing, whether it is security monitoring or online meetings, they want to get the ideal image. In addition to image processing capabilities, cameras, head and other equipment should also have anti-shake capabilities, so as to produce stable and smooth images. In addition, unnecessary mechanical vibrations can interfere with the built-in microphone, resulting in poor video and sound quality. ADI Trinamic integrated circuits integrate multiple technologies into a single chip solution without the use of any limit switches, while innovative integrated circuits employ reliable building blocks to transform digital information into ideal physical motion.

Metering pump

In the medical field, every drop of nutrient solution or drug delivered to a patient is crucial. Therefore, infusion pumps need to accurately control the flow rate, free from fluid friction, and continuously record the dose. ADI Trinamic's StallGuard™ is designed for injection pumps to support stable repeatable homing without the use of any limit switches. At the same time, the plug-and-play solution is sophisticated, quiet and energy efficient, achieving a high degree of reliability and traceability, enabling complete control of the mobile drug delivery device.

Recommended product

The TMC2209 is an ultra-silent motor driver IC for two-phase stepper motors that is compatible with many conventional drivers as well as TMC2208 pins. The advanced StealthChop2 chopper ensures noiseless motor operation for maximum efficiency and optimal motor torque. The combination of fast current regulation and resonance suppression enables high dynamic motion. StallGuard is used for senser-free return to origin to prevent gridlock. The built-in power MOSFET can handle motor currents up to 2A RMS with protection and diagnostics for stable and reliable operation.

The TMC2300 is A low-voltage driver chip for two-phase stepper motors up to 1.2A RMS. Low-voltage stepper motor drivers are used in battery-powered, space and special power critical driver applications. Its silent drive technology SteathChop enables motion control for portable home and office applications, ensuring silence. UART interface selection, with StallGuard Sensorless homing and CoolStep current saving controls, reduces power consumption and heat, saves current and extends battery life.

The TMC6300 is an efficient low-voltage driver for BLDC and PMSM motors with peak currents up to 2A. The driver has zero standby current and is ideal for battery powered devices. It has a high power density and efficiency, a standby power consumption of less than 50nA (typical), and a low RDSon, resulting in extended battery life. Packaged in a slim QFN20 (3x3 mm) package, the drive chip covers a wide range of applications, including iot and handheld devices, battery-powered BLDCS and three-phase PMSM motors, wireless POS devices and printers, toys, and mobile medical devices.

The TMC7300 is a low-voltage driver for one DC motor with peak current up to 2A, or two DC motors with peak current up to 2.4A. The TMC7300 is powered by single or double lithium-ion batteries or at least two AA batteries, which is also ideal for battery powered devices. The chip can also be used to control solenos, relays and other actuators because of the integrated direct bridge. Despite the compact 3x3mm 20-pin QFN package, the TMC7300 performs well at high power densities with an integrated power MOSFET and fully integrated DC motor control logic. Likewise, it can control speed and limit torque, or be used for torque control operations.
