Precision Tantalum Nitride Chip Resistors Offer Sulfur Resistance

Applications that require environmental stability and high precision resistors have limited options. Nickel-based thin film resistors have excellent electrical properties and stability, but can corrode when exposed to high humidity for extended periods of time. Many chip resistors, thick and thin, with silkscreen and printed internal terminations may experience resistance shift and failure due to sulfur corrosion.

Stackpole electronics' AEC-Q200 Qualified RTAN series utilizes a proprietary termination material construction and design to provide extremely low resistance displacement under ASTM-B-809 testing with excellent sulfur resistance. In addition, tantalum nitride thin film components provide moisture-resistant precision chip resistance performance with excellent long-term reliability due to the self-passivation properties of the film.
