Quad-Output Mini PMIC for Camera Applications

Technology Cover
Post Date: 2022-02-01, Maxim Integrated

The Maxim Integrated MAX25250 Four Output Mini PMIC device features an efficient four-output PMIC with soft start, over current and over temperature protection, combined with three DC-DC converters and a high PSRR LDO, designed for camera applications.

OUT1 is a 1A high voltage synchronous buck converter powered by coaxial cable or car battery. OUT2 and OUT3 low-voltage synchronous buck converters operate from OUT1 and offer an output voltage range of 0.8V to 3.9875V. OUT2 provides 1.2a for high pixel cameras and high-speed serializers. OUT3 provides 1.2a to power the imager, serializer, and MCU secondary rails. The OUT4 is a low voltage, low noise, high PSRR imaging power LDO.

All buck converters offer ±1.5% output voltage accuracy, overload, line and temperature range. Monitors overvoltage and undervoltage faults and reports errors through RESET.

PMIC adopts 2.2mhz fixed-frequency PWM mode to achieve better anti-noise capability and load transient response. The device's high frequency operation provides the use of all-ceramic capacitors, reducing external components. Programmable spread spectrum FM minimizes radiated electromagnetic radiation. In addition, the integrated low RDS (ON) switch improves efficiency under high loads, making layout simpler than discrete solutions.

The device is ideal for surround view cameras and rear view cameras. And THE PMIC is suitable for operating in the vehicle temperature range from -40℃ to +125℃.
