Solidigm expands its performance-optimized D7 product line with new solid-state drives (SSDs) for data center and enterprise applications, the D7-P5520 and D7-P5620. These drives are optimized for real-world compute and storage server workloads and are available in more form factors and capacity options. These products take up less space and consume less power, resulting in faster computing performance and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

The D7-P5520 (designed for read-intensive and mildly mixed workloads) and the D7-P5620 (designed for mixed workloads) are both part of the first product line from Solidigm, which will become an independent subsidiary in December 2021.

The D7 series includes an industry-leading line of PCIe 4.0 SSDs in a variety of capacities and form factors with optimized performance. Optimized for real-world workloads, these SSDs reflect insights gained from the company's in-depth technical collaborations with leading cloud service providers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and storage innovators. These products are designed and tested with zero tolerance for data errors, consistent read and write operations per second (IOPS) and quality of service (QoS), and virtually no degradation in lifetime performance, so our customers can be deployed with the utmost confidence.

David Dixon, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Centers at Solidigm, said: “Our deep technical involvement across all segments of the industry provides us with unique customer insights to optimize our products. The D7-P5520 and D7-P5620 are These insights, combined with the accumulation of multiple generations of 3D NAND and PCIe 4.0 technologies, allow us to deliver best-in-class products and new paradigms for solid-state storage products."

ByteDance partnered with Solidigm early in product development to verify the D7-P5520 with outstanding performance before field deployment in March 2022, with excellent verification results. These drives offer a wide range of capacities and better performance than previous generations, helping ByteDance's database and cloud software-defined storage improve performance by 33 percent and significantly reduce TCO. The D7-P5520 will also be used in Volcano Engine, ByteDance's public cloud service platform.

Key Features:

●Performance acceleration for multiple workloads:

●D7-P5520: 4K random read performance is improved by up to 42%, 4K random write performance is improved by up to 17%, and intergenerational latency is improved by up to 43%. Compared with competing products, it can improve read responsiveness by up to 40% under write pressure, which is an important consideration for real-world workloads.

●D7-P5620: 4K random read performance is improved by up to 56%, random write performance is improved by up to 53%, and intergenerational latency is improved by up to 29%.

●Reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) with strategies for performance improvement and capacity expansion. For example, taking a 10M IOPS 2U server design as an example, OEMs can save up to 27% in space usage and 20% in power consumption compared to the previous generation.

●The D7 series can be used in a variety of storage configurations, including 1U and 2U tiered and single storage configurations in compute and storage servers. These drives are available in a wider range of optional capacities and multiple form factors, including E1.L and multiple E1.S form factors.

●The certification process is simplified because Solidigm's D7-P5520 and D7-P5620 series use common NAND, firmware and controllers for all SKUs.

●These drives are designed with quality and reliability in mind. For example, the product adds additional firmware checks to verify that data is accurately saved in the event of a power outage. In addition, these drives have been rigorously tested to standards that far exceed industry norms and common industry practices.
