TDK has launched the CUS400M medical and industrial certified AC/DC power supply under the TDK-Lambda brand, in an industrial standard 3" x 5" package. When forced air is used, the series can provide 400W of power, and when convection cooling can provide up to 250W of peak power. The peak duration is up to 30 minutes (ambient temperature 40C, input 230VAC), and the maximum duty cycle is 50%, which is significantly longer than many products on the market. This makes the device ideal for applications with low static power consumption and occasional peak demand, such as hospital beds, dental chairs and incubators.
It initially provides 12V and 24V output, and 15V, 19V, 28V, 36V and 48V models will appear later this year. All models accept 85VAC to 264VAC input, and the no-load power consumption is less than 1.3W when the output is disabled. 5V 2A or 12V 1A standby voltage, remote on/off, remote sensing, AC fault and good output signal are optional.
This series has a variety of mechanical configurations. Open, U-channel, bottom and closed versions are now available, and a top-mounted fan version will be available later this year. In order to optimize cooling, the bottom surface of the device circuit board is installed in a thermally conductive insulating plastic base (patent pending).
Medical and industrial safety certifications include IEC/EN/ES 60601‑1, IEC/EN/UL 62368‑1 and IEC/EN/UL 60950‑1, with CE marking, suitable for low voltage, EMC and RoHS directives. These units also comply with EN 55011‑B and EN 55032‑B conducted and radiated emissions (Class I and II), and comply with EN 61000‑3‑2 harmonics, IEC 60601‑1-2‑2 4th edition and IEC 61000‑ 4 immunity standards.
