TDK-Lambda's RGA series of rugged, non-isolated DC/DC converters are capable of operating over an input voltage range of 9 V to 40 V or 9 V to 53 V. These buck converters are available from 3.3 V to 15 V, 3.3 V to 24 V, or 3.3 V to 40 V, with output currents up to 20 A. They are designed for harsh environment applications including robotics, AGVs (autonomous guided vehicles), communications, COTS, industrial and portable battery powered equipment.

These converters feature a 1/16th brick form factor, measuring 35.6 mm x 25.6 mm x 13 mm, and are packaged for increased shock and vibration resistance. The five-sided aluminum enclosure reduces radiated EMI and supports conduction cooling through a cooling plate for fanless operation.

The RGA models consist of three voltage and current combinations and support operation from 12 V, 18 V, 24 V, 36 V, and 48 V supplies. One part number with a wide input range covers multiple nominal voltages, helping to reduce inventory. Efficiency as high as 98% minimizes power loss, enabling the product to operate in harsh environments with case temperatures ranging from -40°C to +110°C. Due to the optimized dynamic voltage response, the need for external output capacitors is reduced, which in turn reduces board space.

Basic function models include output voltage regulation pins, negative logic remote switching, remote sensing, input undervoltage, overcurrent, and thermal protection. Full-featured models are equipped with power-good signals, output voltage sequencing, and operating frequency synchronization to minimize system noise. All models are CE and UKCA marked for Low Voltage and RoHS Directive and are designed to meet IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards. An evaluation board is available for quick and easy testing.
