Infineon Power Simulation Platform (IPOSIM) is a power simulation platform launched by Infineon Technologies Co., LTD. It is widely used to calculate the loss and thermal characteristics of power modules, discrete devices and disk devices. The platform provides analysis of individual workpoints and user-defined load profiles.

For industrial users, life estimation of power modules becomes more and more important in the early design stage of power electronics systems. This can be particularly challenging for small and medium-sized enterprises, which lack the resources to set up and run proper simulations. To support these companies, the platform now offers a new advanced feature, an automated service that performs simple lifecycle estimates of components based on usage and application requirements.

IPOSIM Life Estimation is an industry-leading service that provides online access to life estimation algorithms and their unique expertise to simplify the design process. Throughout the design process, customers will have online access to the company's power electronics expertise at any time.

The platform also supports a wide selection of up to five Infineon products for performance comparison. The finished design can be saved and shared via deep-link. In addition, a user-friendly GUI was created to guide the designer through a step-by-step process of power equipment simulation. A total of 19 disk and module topologies are provided, grouped by power conversion type.

The service optimizes product size, reduces BOM, and provides faster time-to-market with its highly reliable simulation results. In addition, with these features, it helps to select the right high-power product according to the needs of the application. It also reduces the time required to establish and perform a lifecycle assessment and reduces overall development costs.

The user can select the power module to be simulated based on the configured modulation algorithm and load type. Specific task profiles can be inserted through CSV files or displayed tables. Finally, special cooling conditions and gate resistance values will need to be added. The summary life estimate parameters need to be confirmed, and then the platform starts processing the data. The final report can be downloaded as a PDF file. The service starts with one of the most commonly used topologies in power electronics design: module-based three-phase two-level inverters. Other topologies will be added soon.
