   Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new high-energy wet tantalum capacitor that is the industry's highest per voltage rating and case size. It is produced to meet the requirements of defense and avionics applications. Available with radial through holes and bolt mount options B and C codes, EP2 can be used as an exact replacement for competitive parts or higher capacitance options with mechanical equivalent packages reducing component count, saving space and reducing design cost.

     Based on SuperTan technology, the device can provide 2,700 to 48,000 copies of F in B box code and 3,600 to 72,000 copies of F in C box code. The rated voltage of the capacitor ranges from 25VDC to 125VDC. Its industry-leading values include 9000 μ F capacitors at 80V and 58,000 μ F capacitors at 35V in the C-shell size. These values are 50% and 21% larger than the nearest competing device, respectively. The capacitors offer ±20% standard capacitance tolerances, with ±10% tolerances available.

     This capacitor has high vibration (high frequency: 20g; random: 19.64g) and mechanical shock (50g) capability. Optimized for pulsed power and energy retention applications in laser guidance, radar, and avionics systems, the EP2 features an all-tantalum hermetically sealed housing for improved reliability.

     The capacitors feature tin/lead (Sn/Pb) and rohs compliant 100% tin terminations. And the device has an operating temperature range of -55°C to +85°C to +125°C, voltage derating, and provides a maximum ESR of 0.017 ohms at 1kHz and +25°C.
