Ambarella announced the CV3 AI domain Controller family. This fully scalable, energy-efficient CVflow family of soCs delivers the automotive industry's highest AI processing performance of up to 500 eTOPS, a 42-fold increase over the previous vehicle family. Offering up to 16 Arm Cortex-A78ae CPU cores, the device delivers a 30-fold improvement in CPU performance when it comes to supporting anti-virus software applications. The series allows centralized single-chip processing of multi-sensor perception, including high-resolution vision, radar, ultrasound and lidar, as well as deep fusion of multi-sensor mode and AV path planning. As a result, ADAS and L2+ to 4 AD systems have a higher level of environmental awareness in harsh light, weather and driving conditions for driver viewing and machine awareness.

Fermi Wang, President and CEO of Ambarella said:"With our new CV3 AI domain controller family, we are now able to run complete ADAS and AD stacks using a single chip while delivering unprecedented performance and power efficiency," . Ambarella helps the automotive industry improve perceptual accuracy in all environmental conditions by enhancing ISPs on the chip, as well as radar processing using Oculii adaptive artificial intelligence algorithms, realizing the promise of autonomous driving."

The family marks the debut of the company's next-generation CVflow architecture, continuing its algorithm-first design philosophy. This has driven the development of NVP on chip, eTOPS with up to 500 AI calculations, industry-leading power efficiency, and support for the latest advances in neural network reasoning.

The family accelerates automakers' r&d schedules while simplifying the deployment of new features by making room for a single, powerful OTA upgrade. In addition, the family's unique hardware scalability enables automakers to unify their software stack rather than the entire retail portfolio, while reducing the cost and complexity of software development. This scalability provides competitors with a fragmented ADAS SoC option that directly addresses the increasing complexity of automotive software.

Using a full suite of proven software tools and a powerful SDK, its flexible CVflow AI platform offers customers unprecedented opportunities to innovate and differentiate products in the market.

The series also integrates with the company's next generation ISP, extending the company's image signal processing quality. By supporting up to 12 physical or 20 virtual cameras simultaneously, a single CV3 can handle a complete sensor suite with ten cameras, five radar modules, and multiple ultrasonic sensors for a typical L2+ deployment. Higher performance stereo and dense optical flow engines also provide greater depth and motion perception.
