The eFuse integrated protection chip LS0505EVD22 series, launched by Littelfuse in the third quarter, was recognized by the market less than two months after its launch due to its outstanding features Littelfuse electronic fuse chip has been applied maturely. In the market of low-voltage and small current portable terminal products, Littelfuse has always spared no effort in product innovation to ensure that equipment is not damaged, make the system work safely and reliably, and improve system robustness. Nowadays, the design of portable devices must comply with the Type-C specification, and the maximum specification of USB power transmission (PD) must reach 20 V/5 A. Therefore, many electronic devices equipped with Type-C interface need to support USB-PD protocol and the maximum output power is 100 W (20 V/5 A).

In this application case, the user selects Type-C charging specification. The customized working voltage is 5 V, and the working current is 1 A. The product must meet the technical requirements of over-voltage 20 V, over-current 5 A, surface temperature of single parts must be less than 80 ℃, and the temperature of charging line must be less than 50 ℃. Due to the diversity of Type-C charging specifications in the market, the voltage specifications range from 5 V to 9 V, 12 V, 15 V, and 20 V, and consumers' non selective cross use habits lead to electronic equipment damage from time to time. Therefore, in the early stage of product design, engineers first consider the safety and reliability of the product to meet the core demands of users, so that the product can be used normally in different application scenarios.

Based on the above requirements of customers, Littelfuse engineers recommended one LS0505EVD22 series of eFuse integrated protection chips just launched. This product complies with the USB-PD standard and supports 100W maximum power, that is, when 20 V/5 A power is applied at the Vbus end, it has the ability to pass this power without damage. At the same time, the Vbus short circuit to ground lasts for 20 min. In the application of 5 V/1 A, the component temperature is only 37 ℃, which is far lower than that of similar competitors of well-known brands in the market. The excellent temperature rise performance of this long time micro short circuit test is due to the lower RdsOn. The RdsOn of LS0505EVD22 is 50 m Ω. On the whole, the lower RdsOn can not only reduce the loss, but also give consideration to the design requirements and system reliability, meeting the key indicators of device temperature rise evaluation during the operation of portable products.

At present, the input voltage of similar products widely used in the market is 30 V, but most of the output voltage is 12 V. Therefore, the bid was directly burned during the 20 V/5 A test. However, Littelfuse LS0505EVD22 series has extremely high input/output withstand voltage, which reaches 30 V in both directions. It is in a leading position in the industry and fully meets the basic requirements set by users.

The LS0505EVD22 series supports a continuous working current of 5 A, which has greater advantages over the products provided by competitive manufacturers. The higher output current provides great convenience for subsequent product upgrading. It is predicted that the current specification for similar applications in the future is expected to be increased to 3 A. This will maintain the same BOM in the system design, reduce the new product evaluation link of the designer, reduce material management, and greatly save human resource costs.

The magnetic suction charging wire application scheme designed by Littelfuse LS0505EVD22 series, which integrates overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, over temperature protection, short circuit protection and other functions, was finally selected. With excellent system performance, it passed the user's rigorous technical evaluation and won the bid. It is worth mentioning that the over temperature (OT) protection function plays a crucial role in the system application. The DFN2X2 with small size and high integration_ The 8L package also meets the basic requirements of such applications.
