Automotive subsystems receive a high level of protection from power switches

Post Date: 2021-12-17, Diodes Incorporated

Diodes has introduced an automotive standard-compliant device that simplifies power system design and ensures continuous reliability with the AP22653Q programmable current limiting power switch. It is rated to handle continuous load current up to 1.5A. And provide a controlled and protected power supply path.

At high current levels, with an accuracy of ±7%, the device's current limit threshold can easily be set between 125mA and 1735mA, using standard external resistors. The device controls the rise and fall times to help mitigate the effects of surges throughout the switching process. In addition, its 5μs short-circuit response helps avoid situations that require system shutdown/reboot.

The device has a typical on-resistance of 55mOhm, which significantly reduces power loss and voltage drop at high load currents. Reverse current protection integrated into the device prevents reverse current when the peripheral is externally powered. Also integrated with overheat protection and undervoltage locking functions. Supports an operating temperature range of -40 c to 125C.

The power switch is in a compact SOT26 package. Aec-q100 Class 1 is manufactured in an IATF 16949 certified facility and supports PPAP.

The main applications include protection of vehicle USB ports and ECU power supply rails as well as infotainment and telematics subsystems.
