Codasip, a leader in customizable RISC-V processor intellectual property (IP) and processor design automation, today announced that Veridify Security's quantum-resistant security tools can now support Codasip's RISC-V processors with secure boot. As the firmware is loaded onto the Codasip processor, it is verified by Veridify's security algorithms to reassure RISC-V developers that the embedded system is safe to use.

Veridify's Secure Boot feature is based on an algorithm that runs faster than traditional encryption methods; requires only a small code space and ultra-low power consumption, making it ideal for Codasip's family of low-power embedded processors. By using the Veridify method, Codasip customers can now easily verify the authenticity of the firmware.

Because Veridify's verification methods are quantum resistant to all known threats, they also support customers deploying Codasip processors in embedded applications with long battery life, such as remote monitoring systems, surveillance cameras, and smart meters. Additionally, Veridify's tools can be used to activate additional security features such as secure firmware updates, authentication and data protection.

In 2021, Codasip and Veridify entered into a partnership to bring this secure boot capability to Codasip's RISC-V processor IP. After trial and error between the two companies, Codasip's IP has now been validated on the Veridify platform—giving customers and developers using Codasip processors the confidence that they will take advantage of a fully compatible, widely available and highly trusted security Boot the source to verify the firmware on its processor.

Zdenek Prikryl, CTO of Codasip, commented: "Combining Veridify with Codasip's processor cores provides our customers with the greatest assurance that, when choosing Codasip processors and tools, customers are not just choosing the highest quality processing in the industry. server IP without worrying about malware in embedded firmware.”

"We are excited to partner with Codasip to provide future-proof secure boot capabilities for its low-power RISC-V processors," added Veridify Chairman and CEO Louis Parks. "Codasip's customers can now be confident that their firmware is authentic during the boot process, and trust that the Codasip's processor they are using is safe and secure throughout the life of their device."
