Lattice Semiconductor announced that its flexible USB Type-C port controller LIF-UC device is now integrated into Salcomp's SPEEDY power adapter. The company said that Salcomp will continue to use Lattice's upgradeable port controllers for future USB Type C accessories, which intelligently provide higher power for mobile devices. Lattice's LIF-UC port controller seamlessly connects to the AC / DC controller in the charger, enabling a simple and low-cost design. Lattice's solution uses an FPGA architecture, providing the flexibility needed to implement customization to differentiate Salcomp products. Salcomp is a global market leader in mobile phone and tablet chargers, and a leading manufacturer of external power adapters for other communication devices. USB Type-C is an attractive solution for Salcomp's customers, covering the entire electronics sector from mobile phones to laptops. USB Type-C provides up to 100W of power and is the new connector for many next-generation products that Salcomp customers are developing. "We designed the LIF-UC port controller family to provide customers with a variety of design options to enable USB Type-C power," said CH Chee, Lattice's senior director of consumer markets. "With Lattice's flexible FPGA architecture, Salcomp is able to bring enhanced charging capabilities to its latest products." Salku CEO and President Markku Hangasjärvi added: "The combination of Lattice's technology and the strength of USB Type-C makes them the ideal partner for our implementation. We hope to continue to work with Lattice to develop future USB Type- C charging products. "
