RS Components integrates SnapEDA electronic Components library and search engine into the DesignSpark PCB CAD platform. The new search feature provides engineers with free CAD models of millions of electronic components, greatly reducing design time.

The library provides free access to the basic building blocks of electronic design, including schematic notation, PCB footprints, and 3D models created using proprietary creation, validation, and translation techniques. As the industry's only vendor-independent search engine, it helps over 750,000 professional engineers discover and design devices from a large library of components each year.

The platform is a set of fast PCB prototyping tools that are free to use, offering unlimited number and size schemata, unlimited layers, nodes, pads and connections, integration with RS part libraries, library editors that generate custom libraries, and integration with free DesignSpark mechanical and electrical CAD systems.

This online component library can be searched by entering a known part number or one or more keywords. CAD models can be accessed and downloaded for free, and imported directly into DesignSpark or virtually any other major PCB CAD tool. Data sheets, full specs, price checks and component sales are available via RS.

Natasha Baker, Founder and CEO of SnapEDA said :"Since launching DesignSpark 11 years ago, RS Components has been committed to supporting the engineering community with free tools and resources,"  "This commitment resonates with us at SnapEDA, where we are equally committed to helping engineers design faster and we bring free, innovative design tools and resources to the market. We are excited to support the engineering community with this new SnapEDA integration on the DesignSpark website."

“Part selection and design entry can be a major bottleneck in the electronics design process as engineers have to find digital models for each part,” said Carol North, senior digital development manager at RS Components. “Our new partnership with SnapEDA gives us free access to The DesignSpark platform adds free CAD models to solve this problem.”

In addition to DesignSpark, Other CAD formats supported include Altium, KiCad, Fusion360, Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, Eagle, Pulsonix, DipTrace, Proteus, ExpressPCB Plus, CircuitStudio, PADS, PCB123, Target 3001! And P - CAD.
