As an industry-leading supplier of chips and semiconductor IP dedicated to making data transfers faster and more secure, Rambus Inc announced the expansion of its DDR5 memory interface chip portfolio with the introduction of the Rambus Serial Detection Hub (SPD Hub) and temperature sensor, an industry-leading Complementary is the Rambus Register Clock Driver (RCD). DDR5 enables greater memory bandwidth and capacity by employing a new module architecture with an expanded chipset. At the same time, the SPD Hub and temperature sensor also improve the system management and thermal control of DDR5 dual inline memory modules (DIMMs), providing higher performance in the power envelope required by servers, desktops and laptops.

"The new performance level of DDR5 memory places higher demands on signal integrity and thermal management of server and client DIMMs. With over 30 years of memory subsystem design experience, Rambus is able to provide the ideal DDR5 Chipset solutions that bring breakthrough bandwidth and capacity to advanced computing systems."

"The close collaboration between Intel and SPD ecosystem partners such as Rambus provides a critical silicon solution for Intel's next-generation DDR5-based systems, integrating server, desktop and Laptop performance takes a new level of performance. Together, we are advancing DDR5-based computing systems, laying the foundation for multiple generations of Intel DDR5, as well as a new level of performance for data center and consumer products."

Shane Rau, research vice president of computing semiconductors at IDC, said: "DDR5 enables a huge jump in performance in computing systems. However, DDR5 memory modules require new components to function, and components such as the SPD Hub and temperature sensors have become an important part of client and server systems. ."

As part of the Rambus server and client DDR5 memory interface chipset, the SPD Hub and temperature sensor combined with the RCD can provide a high-performance, high-capacity memory solution for DDR5 computing systems. Both the SPD Hub and the temperature sensor are key components on the memory module that sense and report important data for system configuration and thermal management. The SPD Hub is available for server and client modules including RDIMM, UDIMM and SODIMM, and the temperature sensor is designed for server RDIMMs.
