Omron Electronic Components Europe has released a compact, efficient 800VAC, 200A high power relay for PC, inverter and UPS applications related to renewable micropower generation.

This type of relay has a particularly low contact resistance of 0.2mOhm, resulting in a more than 30% reduction in heat generated by the relay compared to current equivalent devices. This reduces the need for thermal management components such as radiators or fans and improves reliability by reducing the heating of surrounding components. These applications require high energy efficiency and low heat generation, and the new Omron G9KA is an excellent relay solution for grid interconnection and secure outages.

Steve Drumm, Business Development Manager, Omron Energy Applications, commented: "The increased use of solar and other renewable sources of micropower has led to the growth of distributed power regulators (PCS). In these applications, suppression of heat generation has become a major problem for customers. Our design team has innovated in device structure, materials used and manufacturing quality to achieve extremely low contact resistance, facilitating thermal design for customers and reducing design costs. The G9KA is also ideal for inverter and UPS systems."

The dimensions of the relay are 50mm x 50mm x 50mm, and the footprint and height of the relay are reduced by 30% compared to the equivalent contactor. The relay is UL certified and EN/IEC TUV, UL and CQC certified. It is equipped with PCB terminals and can be used at ambient temperatures up to 85C.
