Antenova has released the GNSSNOVA M20071, a new GNSS receiver module that consumes 5 times less power, allowing for smaller tracker designs and 5 times longer runtime.this module is suitable for small tracking devices powered by lithium-ion batteries, where the lower power requirement is a distinct advantage. These are typically small mobile trackers, personal fitness devices, pet trackers, and location trackers for bicycles and e-scooters.

The device tracks GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and the Big Dipper at the same time, improving positioning accuracy, especially in urban environments. It is based on mediatek's latest generation chip and has a power of 17mW for GPS only and 21mW for all constellations.

The GNSSNOVA M20071 measures 9mm x 9mm x 1.8mm. It provides multiple GNSS antennas to support the development of compact RF products - especially the small form factor Sinica chip antenna and Bentoni FPC antenna. And pairing it with one of the company's compact SMD antennas results in a compact RF solution and a way to achieve slim tracker designs.

The module contains an integrated SAW filter and LNA, TCXO and RTC for improved performance and faster first position positioning. "Designers using the M20071 and our low-profile GNSS antennas can specify smaller designs than typical patch antennas," said Michael Castle, Antenova's Product Marketing Manager.

The device integrates EASY (Embedded Assistive System), which can accelerate TTFF. It generates synthetic ephemeris data rather than downloading it from satellites, reducing power consumption. The warm start time with EASY is about 2 seconds, and 25 seconds without EASY. It further reduces the overall power consumption of the app, waking up periodically to get a location so that a smaller battery can be specified. The device also includes EPO, auxiliary gnss. OEMS receives assistance data from the website to expedite application deadlines.
