Renesa Electronics announced the launch of RAA271082, an innovative vehicle scale power management IC (PMIC) for the next generation of car camera applications. As a multi-functional and multi output power IC conforming to ISO-26262 standard, RAA271082 includes a primary high-voltage synchronous step-down regulator, two secondary low-voltage synchronous step-down regulators and a low-voltage LDO regulator, and provides four over-voltage and undervoltage (OV/UV) monitors, I2C communication, a configurable universal I/O pin, and a dedicated reset output/fault indication. To meet the strict ASIL B standard, RAA271,082 has a second independent reference for OV/UV monitors, built-in power on self-test, independent OV/UV monitors, and continuous CRC error check for internal registers and I2C communication.

The highly integrated RAA271082 provides a universal power solution for car cameras. It is the ideal combination of Renesa's High Definition Link (AHL) technology. AHL enables car manufacturers to provide high-definition video using low-cost cables and connectors. This new PMIC IC simplifies the power design for the car camera modules that need to meet functional safety standards, and can be used for cameras including look around/satellite, rear view, driver monitor and electronic rear-view mirror applications. It supports the power requirements of almost all image sensors, image signal processors (ISP) and encoder technology combinations, as well as direct battery power supply and coaxial cable power supply

In addition to the image system, RAA271082's high integration and comprehensive safety features make it an excellent power supply solution for 16 bit and 32 bit vehicle MCU in various vehicle applications. Niall Lyne, Vice President of Renesa's Automotive Analog Power Supply and Video Business Unit, said: "The camera has become an indispensable configuration for all new models. Renesa's new PMIC IC is applicable to almost all car camera modules, which can provide all the features and functions required by users for power supply. It is also an excellent combination of AHL solutions that we have recently been rated as one of the 'most innovative applications of computer vision technology'."
