With the introduction of the new Armor product, Pervasive Displays has further expanded the range of possible use cases its product can support. Epd is based on the company's unique Armor technology, which provides greater mechanical robustness and increased readability in sunlight. This shows that they can be optimally deployed in more challenging semi-outdoor environments, able to extend operating times while still achieving industry-leading image quality.

Armor is available as an option in all of its EPD size formats up to 12 inches. These EPDs can be used in handheld devices, common information systems and digital signage equipment, in the design of freight container labels, workshop delivery systems, warehouse operations, etc.

For its 2.66" format EPD, Armor version is capable of withstanding drop-ball tests with up to 2.105J of impact force. This is almost 40 times higher than the approximately 0.053J of impact that an EPD without Armor can withstand. Further elevating the range can provide a level of protection by choosing more costly materials. The ability to cope with low temperatures (as low as -25C) enables these EPDs to meet the needs of food packaging, laboratory and warehouse environments.

"There are many applications that need an efficient way to display detailed information, but traditional TFT displays consume too much current and the battery drains too quickly," explains Alchin Wang, president of Permeable Displays. EPDs are an energy efficient alternative. However, to date, there are very limited options for EPDS on the market that can handle difficult operating conditions, as they are prone to deterioration from UV and humidity exposure, as well as continuous wear and tear. This limits the scope of EPDs applications. However, Armor now enables us to offer our customers a breakthrough solution that cannot match our competitors in terms of robustness, which will open up new possibilities."
