Toshiba Electronic Components & Storage Corporation announced the launch of a new member of its stepping motor driver IC product line, "TB67S549FTG", a small packaged stepping motor driver IC with built-in constant current control function without the need for external circuits element. New driver IC helps save board space for industrial equipment such as office automation and financial equipment

The output power transistor of TB67S549FTG adopts Toshiba's DMOS FET[1], the absolute maximum rated motor output voltage is 40V, and the absolute maximum rated motor output current is 1.5A[2]. The product is packaged in QFN24. Compared with Toshiba's current product TB67S539FTG, which is packaged in QFN32, the mounting area is reduced by about 36%. This helps save board space.

In addition, this new driver has built-in current sensing components required for constant current motor control, and no external capacitors are required for the charge pump circuit. This reduces external circuit components, which in turn saves board space. TB67S549FTG supports motor supply voltage from 4.5V to 33V, and the current consumption is 1μA in sleep mode, which can be widely used in 12V/24V power supply applications.
